Lipica
The location is well-known for its stud farm, which was established in 1580 by the archduke of Karl, son of Emperor Ferdinand I. Quite famous is the horse breed called the Lipizza horse, which was obtained by cross-breeding tenacious and quick Karst horses with Andalusian, Czech, Neapolitan and Arab stallions. The result of the crossbreeding are magnificent white riding horses, which are today stars of the Vienna based "Spanish riding school". After a long pause because of two world wars the activity of the stud farm considerably improved. This is the place of the famous riding school, while tourists can watch various dressage programs.
